Man United transfer boost as Karim Adeyemi signs Jorge Mendes amid exit plans
Manchester United's chances of signing Borussia Dortmund star Karim Adeyemi have received a significant boost, as the forward is reportedly planning his exit.
The German sensation has been on the Red Devils' radar for some time as they look to bolster their attacking line under Ruben Amorim. Despite previous unsuccessful attempts to secure Adeyemi, things might be about to change with the January transfer window just weeks away - especially since the 23 year old appears to have made up his mind to part ways with Dortmund.
According to Bild, Adeyemi is set to leave the club at the end of the season, with contract renewal discussions coming to a standstill. The forward's current contract extends until 2027, and he will only agree to a new deal if it includes a release clause - a condition that Dortmund is not prepared to meet.
Dortmund could cash in on Adeyemi
This could prompt Dortmund to cash in on Adeyemi rather than risk losing him for free in a year and a half.
It's also suggested that the striker has signed with super agent Jorge Mendes, and negotiations with United and Inter Milan are already in progress, reports the Mirror.
Adeyemi moved to Dortmund from Austrian team Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 and has netted 29 goals in 121 appearances. Whether United can finally land Adeyemi remains uncertain, although the Red Devils seem eager to strengthen their midfield first.
Several high-profile candidates have already been pinpointed, including Brighton's star Carlos Baleba, Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson, and Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher.
The Red Devils' executives have consistently emphasized their commitment to enhancing the team under Amorim's supervision.
"We have got a clear plan," stated Man United technical director Jason Wilcox in an interview with United's website last month.
"We know what we have got to do, we know the areas of the team that we have got to improve.
"For us to get in the top four and consistently challenge for Champions League places, win Champions Leagues, win Premier Leagues, we have got to invest in the squad.
"We have got to buy the right players. The right players who are talented but also who can deal with the pressure, who can take the squad forward."
